Fall Pattern Showcase Blog Tour – The Kisses Co.
Hey all!
I was so excited when Becca from Free Notion posted about this showcase!  I love a good push to blog.  And I love to make myself try something new!
For a long time now, the Lacy Slope top from Greenstyle has been one of my main staples in my fall/winter/spring wardrobe.  I have several.  They were a favorite in my shop last fall and winter, too!  I call them The Lauren.  I have really wanted to see if I could morph it into a comfy cardigan for a long time now and this was just the excuse I needed!
Here are a couple of my favorite Laurens to wear!  The white is a super comfy interlock fabric and the purple is a performance fabric (the handsome fella in the photo is one of my lifelong friends :)).  Both get weekly use around here during the cool months.  I even wore the purple one in the Minnesota Boundary Waters Canoe Wilderness Area this summer in the evenings.

I found a tiny bit of this super cool fabric at our local fabric warehouse and was just waiting for the perfect project to jump out at me.  When I was plotting my design for this tour, I saw it and knew!  It is a light jersey/spandex, so it has nice stretch and nice drape, too.  Plus, it is light.  That is a big deal for this hot-blooded Norwegian gal.  🙂

Without further delay, here she is!  The Lauren cardigan!  I took the Lacy Slope pattern and sized up once.  Then I added 1.25″ to the fold when I cut it out to leave room for a hem on the front.  Then I cut down that fold line giving me two pieces.  Then I assembled as stated in the pattern.  Instead of adding a hood or binding the neckline, I used my coverstitch and just folded the edges over 1/2″ to finish.  I did the bottom, then neck and finished with the front.  It finished very cleanly this way!  I would also love to try a hooded cardigan!

Because I like to have a full outfit, I also put together a Layer Me Up (Patterns for Pirates) top with 3/4 sleeves to go underneath.  I used this designer overstock rayon blend fabric in mustard and it is dreamy to touch.  Seriously.  Yum.  I’m wearing my SoS jeggings (also by Patterns for Pirates), too.  So versatile!  Finishing off the look with a chiffon infinity scarf and some adorable Minnetonka Moccasin turquoise flats.  Here you have a cute, easy mom-on-the-go fall outfit!  The best part is that I can switch each of these pieces around in my wardrobe without much effort.  The jeggings are eeeeasy and will be worn at least once a week.  The mustard top will be fun to layer under my various cardigans and sweaters, but I can also wear it on its own with a big, fluffy infinity scarf or a statement necklace.  I’m dying to make some more Layer Me Up tops in other colors to put under this new cardigan –namely in a turquoise.  Just add it to the list, eh, ladies?  🙂  So much to sew, so little time.
I have to do a shout out to my little photography apprentice, too!  My almost 8 year old son, Cade.  He loves to help me with different projects (usually cooking or photography related), so he jumped at the chance to do this shoot for me today.  Thanks, little buddy!  You did a great job! <3
