The Summer Caye Shorts Sewn By The Kisses Co

The Summer Caye Shorts Sewn By The Kisses Co.
I was so excited to pattern test the Summer Caye Shorts for Tami of Love Notions! Women’s shorts and pants with structure are something I tend to hide from. 99% of the time you’ll find me in yoga pants or leggings because… well… if I’m being honest… I have no interest in real pants. Ha! But, I love a good sewing challenge, so I signed on for this test.
I made two pairs of the shorts for myself. I had to mash sizes a bit because I’m shaped weird through my midsection. Once I figured out what I needed shape-wise, I was on a roll! I’ve got three more pairs cut for me, and two more cut for my daughter! I was hoping to have those sewn up, too, by the time I blogged, but I’m runnin’ short on minutes.
As I mentioned, I made the shorts version, but this pattern comes with several options! Capris, palazzos, cuffs, tulip hems… So exciting!
I like the way these fit me. Loose, but still fitted enough to flatter my [weird] shape. Plus, you get so many options since you can use wovens AND knits! Whaaaat?! Time to celebrate, fabric lovers! <3
I made the size 5 for Nevey. These are so well fitted, and so classy. I love them even more than I thought I would. She looks adorable in them!
So, here you have it. The Summer Caye shorts. First up, Neve. <3
And here are mine! I used a linen blend fabric, and paired them with the Pumpkin Spice Dolman from Patterns for Pirates in french terry from Raspberry Creek Fabrics.
And a bonus one with a sneak peek of a new tank pattern coming soon from Winter Wear Designs! Shhhhhh…
Did I mention it was sleet-raining on us throughout these pictures? That’s why there’s a noticeably smaller amount of images than I usually post. Ha! Editing rain off of shorts and faces is no easy task.
So, there you have it! I think you guys are going to love these shorts/pants/capris and I can’t wait to see what you make! <3
